German exchange visit

When I was studying German in the 80’s our school set up a network of pen pals with the students from our link school in Germany. We wrote to each other for about a year, and then in year 10 (or the 4th form as it was then) we had two exchange trips – the Germans stayed with us and then we went and stay with them. The German kids were much better at speaking English then we were at speaking German.

When we went over to Germany we had already met so it was like renewing old acquaintances. We stayed with our exchange partners families and spent some of the time on trips to local places of interest and sometime in the German School, sitting in on classes with our exchanges. We had two teachers from our school with us – the woman who was Head of German who was probably in her mid-30’s and a male teacher who was a few years younger. The Head of German had been organizing the trip for several years but I think was the other teacher’s first time.

One day we went with our exchange partners to a mini Swimming Gala – just us and our exchange partners and the teachers (our two and a male & a female German teachers). It was a public swimming pool but the German School had booked it and so we had the place to ourselves – there was only the Lifeguards and attendants there apart from us.


It was mainly for the German kids but we were told to take our swimming costumes just in case there was time for us to have a swim at the end. I think the main purpose of the event was so the German kids could show us how good they were.

When we arrived the German kids went to get changed and we English kids sat on the seats at the side of the pool waiting, ready to watch (the bleachers I think they’re called, although I’ve only just learnt this word.)

After a few minutes the German girls came in wearing their swimming costumes, but it was when the boys came in that we couldn’t believe our eyes – they were stark naked!!! Seeing our reaction our female teacher came up to us and told us quietly like, “don’t stare, it’s the way they do things here.”

But if that wasn’t enough we had even more of a shock when the German teachers came out. The female teacher was wearing a costume but the male teacher was also naked!!!!!! In front of all his pupils, girls & boys!!! Amazingly they didn’t seem to take any notice – it was obviously something that happened all the time. This was certainly an education for us!

During the Gala we could hardly keep our eyes off the naked boys. I’ve got a brother so I knew what boys looked like but some of the girls had only seen Greek Statues and a few diagrams in Biology lessons! The English boys looked less happy, perhaps they thought the German boys were letting the side down, but more likely they were wishing they had the same sort of view of the German girls.

I wish I had my camera with me. They told us before hand that the rule was no cameras in the pool, now I knew why! I thought it was so they wouldn’t get wet.

After the official races were over they announced some invitation events for the English kids to compete against the Germans, starting with the girls. So we all went to get changed, except for those who had “time of the month.”

As there were too many of us for one race they decided to have a relay in teams of 4 with each person doing one length each. There were about 3 or 4 teams of English girls &about the same number of Germans. We didn’t really take it seriously but the Germans were really competitive. They were much better then us and the slowest German team finished before the fastest English one!

They gave us a sporting round of applause at the end and then the male German teacher announced it was time for the boys race. He reminded our boys that no swimming costumes were allowed! Of course he himself was naked the whole time but we got used to that by now.

Our boys looked alarmed, they weren’t expecting this. It wasn’t compulsory for all of them but we had to put at least one team in. One or two of them started nudging each other, sort of “I will if you will” like, and eventually we got a team of 4 volunteers. They nervously stripped off to huge cheers from all the girls and then walked naked to their places – 2 at each end of the pool. Those who were swimming the 2nd, 3rd & 4th lengths had the worst deal as they had to stand there naked for all to see waiting for their turn.

As with the girls, the Germans won easily – they all finished while we were still on our 3rd length! Again there was a sporting round of applause as we finished and our boys were relieved to get dressed again. The German boys still stood around naked without a care in the world.

Then the German teacher announced the Grande Finale – the Teachers Race! Our female teacher was well prepared, she had her swimming costume on under her clothes and in a few seconds she was stripped off and ready to go. All eyes were then on our male teacher who was looking distinctly embarrassed, realizing what was expected of him. The 4 teachers were all standing together, we couldn’t here what they were saying but it was obvious the German teachers were egging him on and our female teacher joined in as well.

Then the English kids started shouting “Come on sir!” “Do it for England!” that sort of thing. We couldn’t believe he’d really do it but after this went on for sometime he started to get undressed in front of everyone! Even then we didn’t think he’d go the whole way but he did!!! When he took his underpants off and stood there naked facing us I nearly fainted. It must be every schoolgirls dream to see her dishy young male teacher naked and here he was before my very eyes!!! It’s an image I shall take with me to my grave. I had often fantasized about seeing him naked as I really fancied him. I know girls are not supposed to have those sort of fantasies but I did.

Anyway they have the race and he gets dressed again straight away, so it’s all over fairly quickly. But – wow!!!

The next day I goes up to him and said quietly like, “That was really brave what you did yesterday sir.”

He smiled nervously and seemed more embarrassed now then he was at the time. “You won’t tell anyone when we get back, will you?” he goes.

“Course I won’t sir” and I gave him a little hug. I don’t know why, I’ve never dared to do that to a teacher before, it was just sort of instinctive like. I really liked him and felt kinda sorry for him now. He was such a good sport – apart from giving me something to think about during the lonely nights!

Us girls all liked him and we decided it wouldn’t be fair to make life difficult for him when we got home.

Back in England our German lessons carried on almost as if nothing had happened, except for one thing. Just occasionally I would make eye contact with him and there’s an almost intimate moment between us. Without saying a word we each knew what the other’s thinking – it was our special secret. I think the other girls who were on the trip had the same experience as well, as I would see him look at one of them some times and lose concentration for a second. We tried not to let it happen in lessons when there were other pupils there who didn’t know about it.

Unfortunately word did get around – I think it must have been one of the boys who spilled the beans – as some of the kids started to tease him, specially the younger ones. I think it must have got to much for him as he left at the end of the year – maybe he was asked to leave I don’t know.

I was really upset to see him go. Not only was he a great teacher, he was a genuinely nice man as well. I tried to find out where he had moved to so I could keep in touch, but nobody in the school would tell me – they probably wanted to give him the chance to make a fresh start.

I got married 8 years ago & told my husband all about this episode but he didn’t believe me. Eventually he said he did believe me but I don’t think he did, it’s just to keep me quiet. Anyway about a couple a weeks ago I found this web sight & showed him some of the stories & pictures, I think he half believes me now.

I’ve been trying for ages to get him interested in cfnm but without much success. He’s happy to act out fantasies just for me, but soon as I suggest letting my friends see him naked he runs a mile. Most guys seem to be only to keen to get there kit off and its usually the girls who need persuasion!

We swam nude at the YMCA and at school up to about 1965. It seems weird now. What was going on?

It was a time before there was any recognition that a male could be sexually attracted to another male.

Sure, the man who was our primary school principal was a bit girlish. He wasn't married. He sang in the town choir. His wrist was "flippy". He walked in an odd way. But - it wasn't even considered possible that he might have sexual yearnings for males. We saw him as a weak man, not as a gay man. We found it hard to believe that he had been a fighter pilot in WWII.

Then there was the boy who went to school with us. He didn't play any sports. He was short, slight, giggly. There was speculation that his mother made him wear a dress when he was very young. That made him a sissy, not a gay kid.

So - there was nothing, NOTHING, sexual about males being naked around other males. That was how we treated the subject. The school principal and the sissy student may have had a sexual interest in other males, but if they did, they kept it strictly within the privacy of their own minds.

I recall the swishy primary school principal giving us boys a sex education class. It was mostly a warning that we shouldn't have sex with girls before we were married or we would get VD. Sexual orientation wasn't part of the lecture.

Men were more or less strong. More or less manly. Nobody was labelled as "gay", "queer", or "homo".

None of us wanted to be like that sissy kid, but we did sort of envy him because he was spending so much time with the girls. And we noted with the same sort of envy that the manly single male teachers seemed to always be hanging around in the evenings with other single men at the bowling alley, while the swishy principal was at choir practice with a lot of ladies. You see - in the thinking of the times - being a man automatically meant that you were sexually attracted to women, and only to women.

When we had gang showers after football practice, there was no consideration about it being gay. The only anxiety was about not being as well endowed as the other guys on the team.

I have experienced female attendants in European toilets and female cleaners/attendants in asian dressing rooms who went about their duties while male patrons were at the urinals or toweling off after a shower. That was the norm in those areas and one must expect to adapt to local customs.

However, over recent years, in both England and America, there has been an increasing incidents of females using male toilets at concerts and sporting events. Usually this is no big deal as they pass the men standing at the urinals and just see their backs, but recently I was at a big football match and, standing at a urinal I heard several female voices and took no notice. I heard one female voice which was a bit closer. There was a man using the urinal next to me and on his other side was a vacant urinal and some woman who knew him had come out of a stall and come over to start a conversation with him. She was standing side-on at the vacant urinal looking along the line of men urinating. The conversation lasted 30 or 40 seconds and she made no pretense about looking, and acted as if this was the most acceptable behaviour.

Do you think that this incident was "one off" or is it becoming more acceptable

This film does an excellent job of depicting the discovery of a young boy that the human body is not distasteful and that nakedness is totally natural and not about sexuality.
I think everyone should see such films in the hopes of diminishing body shame.

My mom and my sisters don't cover their boobs in our home unless someone is visiting. We all wear pajama bottoms or sweat pants when we are watching TV at night and before we get dressed in the morning. Mom and dad are divorced. Mom and my sisters treat him like a visitor so they cover up their boobs when he comes to pick us up and take us out for a visit.

Came across this story from another forum. Anybody have any stories of his usually modest wife suddenly forgetting all about modesty?

BELOW is the story

Last weekend, a good friend of ours from college was getting married and my girlfriend was one of the brides maids. So the day before the wedding, we all stayed at the brides sister's house, as the wedding was 2 hours away from where we live. Including the bride, there was 5 girls at the house that were getting ready. Me and the rest of the girl's dates (2 of the other 3 guys i knew from college) stayed over as well, naturally.
So the morning of the wedding, the girls decide to all get ready together in the master bedroom, which was connected to the master bathroom. The guys kind of just did their own thing in whatever rooms we were in. After bumming around I decided to get ready. Well my keys were in my girlfriends purse and my stuff was in my car. So I knock on the door to ask for the keys, and heard a "Come In" I didn't recognize if it was my girlfriend or not, so I just opened the door and went in. My mouth almost dropped. I step in, and there is my girlfriend sitting in a chair, completely nude, getting her hair done by our friend also completely nude, except for the towell in her hair. I got my keys and tried to let my eyes really pop out of my head.
I said to my girlfriend almost jokingly on the way out, "What if I was someone else" (not realizing it wouldnt matter because she was not the only one nude). She just looked at me and said, "Who cares, Kevin (our friend) was just in here before to have his tie fixed. I was surprised. Kevin was a good friend of ours, and was just lucky enough to see my girlfriend fully nude. Granted he has probably walked in on us having sex once, this is totally different. The girls must have been too tuned in to the wedding to care who saw them naked, The other 2 were in their thongs, with one girl in the shower. I left, to get my stuff, and made sure to stop back in to put my keys back into her purse. As I came up the stairs, another guy was coming out of the room. I went in again to see my girlfriend in the same position.
She was, as were the others, unphased by the guys. These girls are not wild exhibitionists, but not the prude-ish type either. My girlfriend said afterwards that they really didn't care, since we were all their boyfriends anyway. Even still, I got a thrill out of seeing the other girls nude or semi-nude, and a little thrill out of the others seeing my girlfriend, as well as her acceptance of it. By the time I thought about getting a picture of it, it was a bit late (not sure how they would have reacted to THAT anyway) but I did get this one, my wife putting on the brides dress which I think is still HOT!

I remember reading something someone mentioned in passing on another forum that the Wennington School in England had nude coed swimming in the 1940s. So I decided to do a little bit of online research. The poster said that the Wennington School was very progressive in its attitudes. It was established in accordance with Quaker philosophy and was a small school, and never had more than 130 total students of both sexes in all grades from ages 8 to 18.

Here is what one former student wrote about the nude swims:

confirms that the swimming was defninitely coed:

""First Bell" went at five-to-seven and was the wake-up call. In the summer months (about May to early October) it was also the call to those tough diehards who felt so inclined to participate in the "Morning Dip". This meant jump out of bed, grab a towel, rush down to the swimming pool by the quickest route, strip off nightwear and plunge in. When you bobbed back up again, you might steal a look at the girls regaled in the full glory of their birthday suits – or, more likely, you were too preoccupied with vigorously trying to restore life to your own blue flesh to be particularly bothered. I am aware of only two occasions that I subjected myself to this punishment. Once, early on, I succumbed to peer pressure and felt I had at least to try the experience, just once.

The second time was later on when adolescent curiosity was beginning to bite and I was persuaded by Vivienne McColm, Ruth’s elder sister. One warm and sunny afternoon, I was hovering outside the open door of the girls’ changing room, hoping possibly to spot something of interest, when Vivienne marched through stark naked. Seeing me by the door she said, "Hello Stuart. What are you looking for? Come in – don’t be shy." Cautiously (and with some embarrassment) I ventured in and beheld Rosemary in the shower, not sharing in the welcome at all and unsuccessfully trying to cover her all with a flannel.

So I beat my retreat and Vivienne called after me, "You should come to the morning dip. You’ll see much more interesting things there!" She succeeded masterfully in making me feel very silly but it occurred to me that perhaps she might have a point (or two) and I should give it another go. However, the pool was not heated and I was physically pretty weedy. Even at the height of flaming June, it really wasn’t for me at seven in the morning."

My biggest shock of all, however, must have been on my first morning. I had been quite a keen swimmer that year and had been eagerly awaiting 'Morning Dip.' At first bell, I arose and started following some of my dorm members to the Swimming Pool, swimming costume in hand……. I was told with some consternation that I would not be needing the costume since everybody swam in the nude! Whatever else I had heard about the school, they had forgotten to tell me about that! I didn't know whether it was a 'wind-up' or maybe some strange kind of initiation - I wasn't about to find out and abandoned the idea for the time being. I started the nude swimming the following summer (1962) but sadly didn't have the courage to continue with it in subsequent years."

we jump naked into its freezing depths."

Three times

Back when, I lived in an expansive apartment complex and had a favorite gal which used to come over for a visit at a certain time each weekend after a prefunctory check in. I lived in what was once an "Assistant" manager's place, at the extreme end of the apartment complex which also entitled me to a bona-fide garage. The room actually did not have a number, which caused problems in that I would pay the monthly rental via cheque and then in a few days get a notice of non-payment. The managers just deposited my payments without entering into some book.

My gal used to arrive at about 20 minutes after ten AM, and complained once that I wasn't ready for anything, for my apparent condition looked otherwise. And, we know what that implies.

So this weekend, at about 20 after ten AM, a knock is at the door, I go up suitable undressed to greet my gal. Instead I find it is the lady manager standing there. She looked me over in an astonished way, and looked downwards, and quite flustered began with some prepared speach. My rent cheque was not in. (Yes it was for gave it to them three days earlier, my bank logged it in and...). So she then as quickly turned and walked away, without me responding one word.

About two minutes later, the telephone rings and it is my gal who is presently across the major street at the market getting some things for lunchtime, and will be late in arriving. Ought to be at the door in about 15 minutes.

Then, knock is heard again. Boy do I ever have something to tell my gal now. The door is swung open quickly, and with outstretched arms I am expecting my gal, but instead it is the lady manager again. This time she looks straight ahead, into my eyes, and gives me the same speach about rental payments in a more cohearant manner than she said before, and then just as quickly turns and leaves. Mumbling in a manner to hear her say something about owning clothes.

Not even one minute later and the telephone rings. It is my gal. She is outside at the main entrance gate and cannot get inside. From what she implies, the code word for the electronic gate box got changed and she cannot get in. Ice cream is melting, so hurry up. Now, hold on. I was given a new password the other day, wrote it down, now what was that? And give it to her.

So, instead of being surprised by the lady manager again, I then begin looking out the side window to where she usually parks her auto. About two minutes later there she is. Is walking the sidewalk carrying one big bag of expected supermarket items. Bing-bong the front door. Boy, do I have some things to tell her about what just happened.

I am sort of "fluffed up" and erect as the door is opened up. (not exact statements here) She smiles and mentions that apparently I was waiting for her. What do I have in mind then? As I embrace her there at the front door, she reaches down with the free hand and grabs on to me. Then mentions something needs to be done about this (or it). Playing around with it a bit then, I look up and there is the lady manager again.

The lady manager just stands there, watching up and down what is going on at the time then. She then gets recognized, and?......

She wanted to let me know the gate entrance password was revised last midnight, and handed me a slip of blue paper with the new on on it. Then went away, not to be seen for a couple days and at a distance then. Never talked to the lady manager for a couple of months, and she never mentioned anything at that time. But that lady manager was a determined one.

I thought it would be interesting to hear when folks first got to know in detail what adult genitalia and/or pubic hair look like.

I was the youngest of 4 boys, so between my dad and my oldest brother either at home or changing at the pool etc. I knew that men had pubic hair pretty much from my earliest consciousness. Then when I was 11 my dad had "the talk" with me. He told me to expect hair and that my organs would get larger. Then he opened and lowered his pants so I could see what he looked like. It was so weird, but I have to admit kind of cool, for him to invite me to look at him up close in this way. I asked him "why he looked different from me (meaning his penis; something I had noticed and wondered about before then, but never had figured out). He explained that I had been circumcised and he had not, and what that meant. He let me touch his foreskin and slide it back off of the head (which was a relief to me, when I saw that now his penis looked like a bigger version of mine) and then forward again. I realize now that this probably seems a pretty unusual activity between a father and son, but he was a science teacher & always pretty frank about his body and less inhibited than most.

I'm sure there are other interesting first exposure stories out there - let's hear them!
